Final report: Elevating Tsaatan Voices: Sowing the Seeds of Indigenous Evaluation in Mongolia

Thrilled to share another milestone! Research team of Mongolian Evaluation Association /MEA/ members has successfully completed the study "Elevating Tsaatan Voices: Sowing the Seeds of  Indigenous Evaluation in Mongolia" — a heartfelt and groundbreaking project empowering one of Mongolia’s Indigenous communities, the Tsaatan reindeer herders.
With generous support from the Asia Pacific Evaluation Association - APEA and EvalIndigenous, this research used culturally responsive and participatory evaluation methods to explore how land conservation policies have impacted the Tsaatan’s livelihoods, food security, and cultural practices.
We worked closely with Tsaatan representatives to introduce evaluation tools and amplify their voices in policy dialogue — a step forward for Indigenous-led evaluation in Mongolia. Deep thanks to team members Oyuna Jukov, Gereltsetseg Adiya, Azjargal Amarsanaa, Itgemjit Gankhuyag, community partners, and the Tsaatan representatives who made this possible!
